Dear My Fellow American,

My name is Maisha Cole Perri and I write this explain why I care and why I think you should care about the United States Postal Service. There are so many things in our current era that we take for granted. We carry computers in our hand that we pay top dollar for, there are contracts, issues around privacy, security, and even our mental and physical health due to the use of said technology all with the endgame of communication with one another be it for commerce or for pleasure. The amount of effort that was put forth in order to get to where we are today technologically is almost dumbfounding.

Whatever your opinion in on our current era about our depednacy on technology, I think it's important to have a backup, and redundancy in the system that is equally elaborate and thoughtful. A network that brings people together, creates jobs, and has been around for hundreds of years. OUR USPS. A National treasure that we creted as a country and its our citizens who servre and benifit from said network.

It's truly one of the best things about this country. Its depth of history and its impact on every single america. The organizations relationship to people of color and it's mandate to serve every american with a postal address without bias is pretty amazing and needs to be perservred. I get so excited thinking the scale and impact of the USPS and it's terrorfying what is currently taking place there and the pressure it's under.

If we all do our part, we can make a change. I personally do not have any family members employed by the USPS I just see the humanity in an organization that provides a livage wage for half a million ameriacns who provide a service to every american with an address. A network that has survived wars has been under direct attack for the last ten years. I love sending and receiving mail. It's my love language. Let it be yours too. Get to know your postal carrier, buy some stamps, write more letters and send more love. Can't hurt right?
